DAY 11
'MY THIRD DAY OF CLASS OBSERVATION'

Magandang Gabi everyone, How's your day? Hopefully everything goes well.
Today is my third day of class observation. It was started at 7. 30 Am. The first class I attended was grade 10 of science class.  Miss Elaine began the lesson by asking the students about the materials in the previous meeting.
Then she checked the attendance list of the students. She continued the lesson by reviewing the previous materials before continuing to the next materials that is about genre of literature.
Beginning the lesson, miss Elaine asked the students’ opinion about the pictures displayed on the flash which related to the topic. After asking the students, she explained the materials. The students participated actively during the lesson. If Ms.Elaine asked about their ideas, they expressed it in excellent way. I do love the ways they think.
While explaining the materials, she connected the explanation with the authentic examples and also the prior knowledge of the students. Personally, I think the way she teaches students to build their knowledge is very good. Miss Elaine also very kind person, even though some students were not coming on time, she let them in after asking a rational reason.
In teaching the materials also, Ms.Elaine used an interesting media so that the students can understand it clearly. She also let the students to ask questions if they have question about the explanation. Approximately 5 minutes before the lesson end, she gave a quick quiz about the story that they have read. The quiz has 13 items which covers the setting, values, and characters of the story.
At 08.30 then we had a lunch break.  I stayed in the faculty office with Ms.Elaine to consult my lesson plan, and other things that I want to know. Ms.Elaine answered my questions friendly until the second class was started.
The second class then was started at 09.30 AM. I attended at grade 8 Science. Ms.Elaine opened the class by checking the attendance list. She introduced the materials about the types of setting: backdrop and integral setting. She explained the materials clearly; she also used media such as video clips and pictures in explaining the materials. About 10 minutes before the class end, Ms.Elaine asked the students whether they are ready or not to have a quiz. However, the students said they are not ready yet.
After the second class ended, then it was continued by the third class at 10.30 AM at grade 8 Agrihome. As the same as the previous class, Ms.Elaine explained about the same materials. However, she continued the materials by explaining the plot in a literature.
At 11.30, the classes were off since they have lunch break. My friends and I decided to go to the canteen to have lunch. And at 1 PM, I went back to the laboratory school to do the class observation again. The fourth class I attended was Grade 11. During this class assistance, Ms.Elaine let me assess her students’ performance. I was very excited. The students’ presentations were very great. They have very creative ideas, and their English speaking skill is very good. After the students’ presentation ended, Ms.Elaine then continued by explaining the materials about the types of communications. I saw the students were very enthusiastic and engaged in Ms.Elaine’s.
Approximately at 3.00 PM, the third class ended. Then I continued the class observation at grade 9 of Agrihome. Ms.Elaine began the lesson by checking the students’ attendance list and then showing video clips of movies. Ms.Elaine explained that she finds it easier in teaching literature by using movies. Showing movies to the students can build the students’ prior knowledge before come to the materials explanation. About 16.10 PM, the class ended, and I directly went back to the hostel.
Arriving at the hostel, I directly took rest and then write this blog. So, that’s all my activities today. Hopefully you’ll be stay tuned in reading my posts. Happy reading !
