1. SCHOOL PROFIL
‘TARLAC
AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY’
The Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU),
formerly the Tarlac College of Agriculture, is a public university in the
province of Tarlac, Philippines. It is mandated to provide professional,
technical and instruction for special purposes and to promote research
extension services and progressive leadership in agriculture, agricultural
education, home technology and other related fields. Its main campus is
located in Malacampa, Camiling, Tarlac.
TCA derives its legal mandate as an autonomous
state agricultural college from Presidential Decree (PD) 609 dated December 18, 1974 which
officially terminated its merger with the Tarlac College of Technology,
now Tarlac State
University (TSU). As highlighted in PD 609, TCA is mandated to
undertake instruction, research and extension including production programs in
agriculture, agricultural engineering, veterinary science, forestry and natural
resources management in Central Luzon.[5]
The college was
converted into a state university, the Tarlac Agricultural University, on May
10, 2016 by virtue of Republic Act No. 10800.
In TAU, there are 5 colleges. Those are College of
Agriculture and Forestry, College of Business and Management, College
of Education, College of Engineering and Technology; and College of
Veterinary Medicine

‘TARLAC AGRICULTURAL
UNIVERSITY-LABORATORY HIGH SCHOOL’
Laboratory High School
is the school under TAU- College of Education programs. The school becomes of
one of college of education program which consists of secondary of science and
technology, and also secondary Agri-Home curriculum. The classes are divided
into junior and senior high school. In junior high school, there are three
classes: Science A, Science B, and Agrihome (Agricultural-Homemaking).
Meanwhile, in senior high school there are four classes: STEM (Science,
Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), ABM (Accountancy, Business, and
Management), HS (Humanities and Social Sciences), and Agri-home Economics.

The Tarlac Agricultural
University-Laboratory High School is committed to enhance optimum development
of the students with emphasis on the internalization of values to make them
self-fulfilled, effective and efficient in their roles in the social groups to
which they belong. It aims to equip the learners which scientific, intellectual
and work skills necessary for higher level of learning or in the competitive
world for works as well as to contribute actively in nation-building and
universal brotherhood.

- to develop the specific potentials of each individual;-the moral, spiritual, cultural, socio-civic and physical aspects of his personality for his and society’s benefits

In Tarlac Agricultural University-Laboratory High School is located
near the dean office. The LS building has two floors which consists the faculty
office, staff office, and also classrooms in the first and second floor.
In the Tarlac Agricultural
University, there are some supporting facilities, such as:
- The laboratory
- The Dax (cafeterias)
- Toilettes
- Faculty offices
Others:
In every classroom, there are up to 50 chairs for students, chair
for teacher, the table for teacher, green boards, one flash (TV), one CCTV,
about 6 fans, brooms, and shelf.
3. TEACHING
SYSTEM
The
teaching system used in TAU, every students either in college or Laboratory
school will have a flag hoisting ceremony every Monday at 07.00 am until 07.20
(approximately 30 minutes). The ceremony will be held in front of
administration building or in the yard of TAU entrance if the weather is good,
while if the weather is bad, the ceremony will be held in the gymnasium
building. Then, the class will be started at 07.30 am until 5.00 pm, each class
takes one hour (60 minutes). They have a class break at 08.30 am to 9.30 am;
however there was a schedule change in LS that the morning break is deleted
recently. They will have lunch break at 11.30 until 1.00 pm. They have the
classes five days a week, from Monday to Friday. On Friday, the students will
have sport hours in the school. And for Saturday, the classes are off.

4. MATERIALS
AND OTHER LEARNING SOURCES
In
TAU-LS, the materials and learning sources especially for grade 8, they use
textbook that already provided by the school. The textbook is based on the
curriculum, for grade 8 the textbook used is Afro-Asian Literature which is
look like below:
In the
teaching and learning activities, they not only use textbook. But the teacher
provided them with other sources such as materials from the internet as well as
audio-visual aids.
5. MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION SYSTEM
The
measurement and evaluation system used in LS building, especially for grade 8
is by averaging the results of students’ performance such as:

6. CURRICULUM
The
curriculum used in Laboratory School TAU is K-12 (Curriculum K to 12 Basic
Education Curriculum). Basically, K12 aims to create a functional
basic education system that will produce productive and responsible citizens
equipped with essential competencies and skills for both life- long learning
and employment. Furthermore, the curriculum aims to help the learners acquire
highly-developed literacy skills with cooperation, self-reliance, respect,
certitude, collaboration, patriotism, and perseverance values.
