OBSERVATION ON TEACHERS
1.
Planning
for Teaching
When I observed my cooperating teacher,
she always made lesson plans before teaching. The lesson plan that she made is
quite simple, but still following the curriculum goals. My cooperating teacher
always made a great planning for teaching her students. She always set the
agenda as well as the activities to cover the whole materials.
2.
Preparing
Lessons and Materials
Before my cooperating teacher came to
the class, she provided materials, as well as quizzes on her laptop. She
provided the materials on the slides of power points. The use of media as learning
aids on her teaching is to help the students understand the materials clearly.
3.
Teaching
in Class
When my cooperating teacher taught the
students in the class, she always used various methods, media, as well as
bilingual for her explanations and instructions. She always tried to build the
students understanding by inductive methods.
4.
Measurement
and Evaluations
My cooperating teacher used some
assessments and measurements for the students’ evaluations. She sometimes used
authentic exams, quizzes, and also students’ presentations.

The

Miss Elaine began the lesson by asking the students what was the topic and
assignments in the previous meeting. She let the students review about the
previous materials and gave some feedbacks about students’ works. The students
actively participated and they engaged with Ms.Elaine.
Ms.Elaine
used inductive method in introducing the materials. I think it is very good
since it can build the students knowledge. She also let her students know the
materials by using scaffolding in which she kept asking what the students’
think about the materials , topic, or any words given.
After
asking the students’ ideas, she then explained the topics. She used bilingual
(Tagalog language) and authentic materials in explaining the topic. It is very
good since the students could understand the materials easily.

also saw that Ms.Elaine such a very good teacher, because she could understand
her students well and she also let them understand the materials step by step.

Ms.Elaine began the lesson by checking attendance list and explaining the
materials.
In teaching this
class, Ms.Elaine just repeated the same materials by using the same methods. It
is because of they belong to the same grade with the same materials. However,
in this class I found little bit different with the previous one. They were
very friendly and really enjoyed the process of learning.
During the
lesson, I recognized that they were also paid attention much to Ms.Elaine’s
lesson. It is because of Ms.Elaine explaining the materials step by step and
trying to build the students’ understanding.

Commentary:
The
fourth class I attended was grade 9 of Agrihome class. Just the same as the
previous class, before beginning the lesson, Ms.Elaine let me introduce myself
to the students; and they greeted me well.
After
that, Ms.Elaine Miss Eline started her lesson by asking who is absent today, or
introducing the topic, or asking about the previous assignments that she gave
to the students.
During
the observation, I also recognized that Ms.Elaine can be firm and also can be
friendly in teaching. So, she knows well when to be serious and when to make
jokes with students. I think the students like much her methods in teaching.
Her voice is also loud so even the class is quite large, she can handle the class
well. She is not boring at all.
Ms.Ealine
kept engaged with the students, she dynamically moved to the other sides in the
classroom. I think it is very good since teacher should get in touch with the
students in teaching.
One good point also in her teaching is, she
also used students-centered learning approach. She let the students building
their knowledge, actively participating, and also building their characters.
Well,
I learned a lot from her. I also learned a lot from the materials given.
Overall, my first observation class was very amazing.

9. Commentary:
My
second observation class was started by attending the class of grade 8 Science.
Ms.Elaine began the lesson by directly introducing the topic as the part of
previous meeting. She explained about the intrinsic elements of a literature.
She explained the materials by using audio-visual aids. I think it is very good
since it can improve the students’ interest in learning. She also used authentic
materials that make the students easier in understanding it.
I
recognized that the students were enthusiastic in following Ms.Elaine’s lesson.
It is because of Ms.Elaine tried to give authentic examples that related to the
topic. The way she introduced the topic also could make the students build
their critical thinking. Ms.Elaine moved dynamically to approach her students.
She also gave every students chance to express their ideas or answer the
questions given.

Ms.Elaine
began the lesson by checking students’ attendance list. She then reviewed the lesson
in the previous meeting. She then rearranged the students’ seat based on the
alphabet arrangement. She then kept explaining the materials, and gave every
students chance to state their ideas or opinions. I think it is good also,
since as a teacher we should not create threatening atmosphere in the class.
Because
of the materials given in grade 8 of Agrihome class just the same as grade 8
science, she just repeated the lesson like she did in the previous class. She used
audio visual aids in her lesson, so the students could note the materials
besides listening to her explanations.
Overall,
I can conclude that the way she explain and manage the class was really
structured as stated in her plans. She always began her lesson by checking
attendance list, previous meeting materials review, explanations of the current
topics, building knowledge (asking students), showing examples, asking the
students’ questions, and closing the class.

displayed on the flash which related to the topic. After asking the students,
she explained the materials. The students participated actively during the
lesson. If Ms.Elaine asked about their ideas, they expressed it in excellent
way. I do love the ways they think.
While
explaining the materials, she connected the explanation with the authentic
examples and also the prior knowledge of the students. Personally, I think the
way she teaches students to build their knowledge is very good. Miss Elaine
also very kind person, even though some students were not coming on time, she
let them in after asking a rational reason.
In
teaching the materials also, Ms.Elaine used an interesting media so that the
students can understand it clearly. She also let the students ask questions if
they have question about the explanation.
Approximately
5 minutes before the lesson end, she gave a quick quiz about the story that
they have read. The quiz has 13 items which covers the setting, values, and

character in Beuwolf.
Firstly,
I explained them that what they are going to do is just draw a sketch on a
paper by symbolizing it without giving any explanation. Then I showed them some
of the best works of 9 science as the example; however they are not allowed to
imitate the ideas.
The students were really enthusiastic in
drawing the character sketch. I recognized they had brilliant ideas in doing
the project. Some of the students tried to draw the sketch in different way

they could finish it earlier. They just finished the quiz in 40 minutes, so
there was 20 minutes left for the class today. The 20 minutes were used by

During the correction, Ms.Elaine tried
to review the materials or topic that they already discussed. Therefore, the
